Wm takes a moment of rare interest in his infant son:
"Tweedy's nurse can't touch him because she tends the girl with tonsillitis, and he, laid down for his morning nap in the next room, with me to take him up and diaperize him when he wakes, has been refusing to sleep, and lying for nearly two hours singing and cooing to himself without crying, in the sweetest way to here."
