"I went to Padua again last week to a big Galileo-fesitval at the University, being appointed to represent [Harvard]...I wrote an account of it to the Nation which you will see in time, so I will go into no detail."

W^m's account of the festival is one of the few pieces he produced with a significant evocation of place.  He still has just one book published, but the University of Padua gave him an honorary doctorate anyway.
